Subaru and Honda recall defective vehicles

Posted on September 14th, 2011 No Comments

500,000 Subaru models and 311,000 Honda Pilots have been recalled by the auto manufacturers for  multiple defects, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced earlier this week.

200,000 2010-2011 Subaru Outbacks and Legacies are being recalled for a defect in the vehicles’ wiper motors. The defect could cause a fire if the motor gets overheated. An additional 300,000 2002-2007 Imprezas, 2003-2008 Foresters, and 2005-2006 Saab 9-2xes are also involved in the recall after drivers reported the front control arms breaking. In a couple of cases, the drivers lost control of the vehicles. Luckily, no injuries or accidents occurred.

311,000 Honda Pilots made between 2009-2011 are being recalled for a potential increased risk of injury after the automaker found the front seatbelts’ stitchings were incomplete or missing, which could cause the seatbelt to come out of the anchor webbing. This could cause the passengers to not be properly protected in an accident.
