Plane crash investigated by Ohio State Highway Patrol

Posted on June 3rd, 2011 No Comments

A plane crash occurred on Thursday at the Geauga County Regional Airport in Ohio when the pilot of the plane failed to engage the landing gear while attempting to land at the airport.

The 68-year-old pilot was flying the 1974 Beach Craft Bonanza F33A on Thursday afternoon. He was the only occupant of the plane at the time of the crash. According to a report by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the plane slid 732 feet on the airport’s runway before stopping because of the pilot’s error in engaging the plane’s landing gear.

Neither the pilot nor any people standing on the ground were injured during the crash. The Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating the accident today.
