The family of a woman from Ohio has recently filed a wrongful death lawsuit against a Cincinnati police officer after she was allegedly shot by the man without provoking him.
According to court documents, the incident occurred on Oct. 13 when the police officer allegedly shot the 26-year-old woman while he was responding to a disturbance call when the woman and her sister were in the middle of an argument.
The man stated that he shot the woman because she had a knife and was threatening him. The lawsuit alleges that the police officer shot the woman after she put the knife down and was no longer a threat to his safety. The officer has been on the police force for nearly 13 years and is currently on administrative leave while the investigation into the incident is underway.
While filing a wrongful death lawsuit cannot bring back a loved one or destroy the feeling of loss that you and your family now have, it may be able to help with financial losses which can be an added stress.
