Nursing Home Sued for Wrongful Death of Resident

Posted on November 26th, 2008 No Comments

Streamwood nursing home in Illinois is being sued by the daughter of one of their former patients who died in 2006 after she was attacked by another nursing home resident.

The lawsuit stated that the deceased, Mary Ann Flynn, had been repeatedly threatened by another resident in the presence of staff members who allegedly did nothing to protect Flynn from being harmed.

Following the attack, Flynn suffered from bruises and a stroke.  The lawsuit claims that these injuries either contributed to or caused her death.

The lawsuit charges that the nursing home and its staff “failed to protect Flynn from abuse and neglect; failed to provide services with professional standards; failed to timely inform Flynn’s family that she had been attacked by another resident; failed to maintain records; failed to provide adequate care for Flynn; and failed to notify Flynn’s family of changes in her condition”.
