A professional motorcycle stunt rider died over the weekend when his motorcycle crashed following an unidentified mechanical failure.
32 year-old Jim “The Real Deal” McNeil was performing a practice jump at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth when the accident occurred. He was flown to the hospital where he died less than an hour later of severe blunt force trauma to his neck and chest.
Witnesses say the mechanical error caused him to miss his landing, which made him to hit the ramp at an angle, crushing his chest against the handlebars on impact.
The tour manager claims that deaths in the sport are very rare, but a known risk. McNeil’s death was the first in fourteen years.
Our deepest sympathies are with the friends and family of the victim.
