Man sues former employer for millions

Posted on October 19th, 2011 No Comments

A former employee is suing the construction company he used to work for after an on-site accident caused him to lose his leg. The man is seeking $10 million for the extent of his injuries, medical expenses, unpaid overtime, lost income, and his wife’s distress.

The accident occurred when his boss was backing up a truck and ran him over. He claims she was inattentive and negligent in operating the vehicle.

His boss agrees that the man should receive compensation for his severe injuries, but argues that his compensation should be limited to the legal cap of $50,000. However, the former construction worker claims he was not covered by workers’ compensation insurance and paid in cash, so his lawsuit cannot be capped by workers’ compensation legislation.
