Listeria-contaminated cantaloupe linked to deaths

Posted on September 28th, 2011 No Comments

So far, thirteen people have died after consuming listeria-contaminated cantaloupe grown at Jensen Farms in Colorado. The CDC expects this number to increase in the coming weeks as listeriosis can take up to two months to develop after eating contaminated food. Seventy-two people in eighteen states have confirmed cases of listeriosis from eating the fruit.

The government has launched an investigation into the listeria outbreak at Jensen Farms and will be searching for possible water or animal contamination as well as examining the farm’s harvesting practices.

Symptoms of listeriosis include body aches, fever, confusion, and vomiting.

If you or someone you love has been harmed or worse due to eating contaminated food, contact the Cincinnati dangerous food products attorneys Stepleton & Dugan, LLC today at 513-321-7733.
