A woman is planning to file a lawsuit against a Pennsylvania nursing home on behalf of her 78-year-old mother who resided at the home and suffered physical abuse at the hands of caretakers.
The nursing home, Sunrise Senior Living, Inc., initially ignored the woman’s claims that she was being abused because they believed that the claims were caused by the woman’s Alzheimers. However, a video was released that showed three caretakers at the home beating and abusing the woman.
Following the release of the video, the nursing home’s CEO expressed remorse over the situation, and the three employees were fired. The family of the woman is still planning to file a lawsuit and will be seeking compensatory and punitive damages.
