Family sues driver after man is electrocuted

A¬†Cloverdale family has filed a lawsuit against a drunk driver who crashed into a power line near the family’s property. After the accident, one family member stepped on a live wire while trying to help the hurt motorist.¬†The 42-year-old father of one was electrocuted and pronounced dead at the scene.

According to The Republic, the father drove to the scene of the accident, which was on Route 44 less than a mile from his home. The man was electrocuted while attempting to aid the 26-year-old motorist, who fled the scene after the electrocution. He was captured by police a short time later and charged with drunk driving and failing to stop after an accident involving personal injury.

Although the man has pleaded not guilty to these charges, the family has proceeded to file a wrongful death lawsuit against him. They are seeking $25,000 in damages.
