Chicago hospital sued for baby’s death

Posted on April 15th, 2011 No Comments

Two parents are suing a Chicago hospital for the death of their 6-week-old baby.

The baby was born prematurely and died six weeks after his birth. The baby was given an IV that was mistakenly filled with sixty times the amount of sodium that the doctor prescribed. The baby died because of the overdose of sodium. Reports have said that the bag of sodium was labeled correctly, but a second label had been placed over the first, which led to the fatal error.

The family is seeking an undisclosed amount of compensation for their loss.
