60,000 lbs of beef recalled

Posted on August 17th, 2011 No Comments

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has recalled 60,000 pounds of beef produced by National Beef Packing Company. In the USDA’s routine test sampling, results showed that E. coli bacteria was present. No illnesses have been reported in relation to the recall.

The contaminated meat mostly affects the southeast, but possibly could have been distributed nationwide. The National Beef Packing Company shipped the meat to Kroger, Sam’s Club, Wal-Mart, Winn Dixe and Publix stores.

E. coli can be deadly for people with compromised immune systems. Young children and older adults are most susceptible to severe symptoms.
